Tai Fends Off Notable Competition to Win 2024 NCAA Division I Arnold Palmer National Individual Champion Award
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Hiroshi Tai of Georgia Tech claimed the 2024 Division I Arnold Palmer National Individual Champion Award this evening for earning medalist honors following the NCAA Division I National Championship.
Sitting no worse than T7 after each round, the sophomore from Singapore used 16 birdies, including seven during his opening-round-leading 67, and only one bogey during his final two rounds to hold off a handful of All-Americans and win by one stroke. The two-time PING All-East Region honoree finished the tournament with a three-under 285 (67-77-70-71), becoming the first Yellow Jacket to win the individual national championship since Troy Matteson in 2002.
The win was Tai’s first of the season.
