McEwen Named 2024 NCAA Division III Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine Recipient
BOULDER CITY, Nev. — Jonathan McEwen of Washington & Lee has been named the recipient of the 2024 NCAA Division III Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine.
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Rookie of the Year, McEwen recorded a top-25 finish in all but one tournament this season, five top-10s, and finished T11 with a four-under 284 (65-77-70-72) at the 2024 NCAA Division III Championship. The Portsmouth, Va., native, who is ranked 14th in the Scoreboard powered by Clippd National Rankings, guided the Generals to a T6 finish this week while earning First-Team PING All-America, PING All-Region, and First-Team All-ODAC honors.
Ryan Dannegger of Carnegie Mellon, Benjamin Garcia of Swarthmore, Mat Gover of MCLA, Sam Higaki of Carleton, Mason Remington of Whitman, and Thomas Wang of Rochester joined McEwen on the All-Freshman team.
